A LIGHT FILLED SECOND STOREY OASIS.
The dream of creating a sunny, light-filled, private sanctuary became a reality for the owners of this family home in Belrose, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with a simple, second-storey addition over the new double garage.
First, we removed the existing carport and built a new, double garage at the front of the property. With a contemporary, Hampton facade, the garage is now a feature of the home and has added a sense of street appeal.
The second-storey addition was built atop the garage. This roomy, light-filled space had always been a dream of the owners. With huge windows and skylights, this private oasis is bathed in sunlight all day.
A gas fire was integrated into the wall, perfect for cosy winter nights and cool days.
The tall cathedral ceiling, complete with timber lining, is a real feature of the room. While it certainly adds a sense of scale to the room, its beautiful craftsmanship is a joy to behold. The owner reports to us that it’s not uncommon for guests to lie on the lounge and stair up at the ceiling, watching the clouds or stars throughout the skylights.
Large bi-fold doors lead out to a private, tiled terrace that features pretty views of the garden and bush beyond. On hot summer days, the sea breeze makes its way from the ocean.
This really is a special room to spend time and we were very happy to make the owner’s dreams come true with the creation of this very special room.
Whilst onsite, the owners asked us to renovate the existing downstairs bathroom. See photo below.
