Wheeler Heights

A GARDEN FOR YOUNG AND OLD.

Our landscapers and builders transformed this Northern Beaches garden into a showpiece that can be enjoyed by family and friends.

This Wheeler Heights client, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, wanted to transform her underused garden into a sanctuary where her grandchildren could run and play while the adults relaxed in a beautiful, shady pergola.

Our builders and landscaping team achieved this with the use of sturdy sandstone walls and a large pergola with a stunning, V-lined cathedral roof.

Before the garden makeover, the original pergola was located in another area.  During our consultation with the client, our builders and landscapers suggested the client consider moving the pergola to an area under shady, established trees where the grass had always struggled to grow.  The client agreed.  Not only was the new pergola much bigger than the original but, the new location is cool and shady on hot summer days and warm and sunny in winter when the sun is lower in the sky. Best of all, the former pergola location was transformed into a more usable lawn area, drastically increasing the space available for the grandchildren to play.

A new patio was created closer to the home, providing a sunny sitting area only a few steps from the back door.  This area features the refurbished water feature and is flanked by stunning sandstone garden beds.

Importantly, adequate drainage was installed around the new pergola, patio, garden beds, pathways and throughout the garden, to ensure the backyard is able to handle downpours and days of sustained rain.

Not only was the large garden transformed into a functional space for friends and family across all generations can enjoy but a private sanctuary where the owner can relax all year round.
